Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. – Thomas Edison
Sometimes people judge a person’s wealth by the type of clothes they wear. In the mid-70’s and when I was younger, I saw this first hand. At the luxury car dealership I worked at, a man came in one hot summer afternoon to look at cars. The salesmen all turned and went to their offices and made believe they were on the phone…too busy and too important to help him. The gentleman had arrived in an old dusty pickup truck dressed in blue jeans and a short sleeved plaid shirt. Soon, a young and new salesman came out to show him around. After 30 to 40 minutes, he bought two Mercedes – one car for each of his grandchildren. The total sale was over $100,000. All of the opportunities we miss by judging before really knowing…
How many opportunites have you missed? Don’t lose the lesson.
