Good morning and happy Monday, Gayle. Waking up to start the week….we have to talk about the Superbowl! Thank goodness I still have leftovers in the fridge! Any reason to have Knorr’s spinach dip in a sourdough bread bowl…well….it’s a party! Here we go….
- About the Superbowl and tweeting – Gayle routed for Green Bay and they came through. The Green Bay Packers won the superbowl. I have to start following you on Twitter, Gayle. You crack me up and I would have loved to see your tweets during the party!
- About the Superbowl Menu – Thanks Corrie Booker and Drew Katz for the yummy food and for feeding Gayle. We all love you a little bit for it and we don’t know why…. At the White House, the Party menu included pizza, burgers, wings, potato salad, and ice cream. At Drew Katz’s party, Gayle had flank steak, pasta, quesadillas, salad, and brownies. At my party, I had the best spinach dip in the world. I think I win.
- About the different Superbowl fiascos – No seats at the bowl? WHAT? Wow…I can’t imagine getting all the way to Dallas in such bad weather and then, these people have to deal with a note that says “refund, no seats.” I am glad it wasn’t me. I would not have handled it well. And then….poor Christina Aguilera. Christina sang the wrong words…totally…but everyone has a set of nerves. No big deal. Hello…but if the rumors are true….and she’s got some “problems” well…then, that’s another discussion to be had. Would you still feel for her, GK, if she was drunk….or high on drugs? What’s up! Does she have to give some of the money back….for under performance? How does that work? And the critics…everyone…well, I should talk, writing a blog and reviewing each day. I guess we each have an opinion and want to be heard. Sounds like my family. But the Black Eyed Peas – WONDERFUL. I was too busy SINGING along at the top of my lungs…so, didn’t hear any “kurfluffle” at all. I LOVED THEM!!! They rocked!
- About Nancy Pelosi – Historical speaker of the house….first woman leader in D.C. How does it feel to go from being in power to fighting for ground? “You don’t get there to hold a job, you get there to do a job,” says Nancy Pelosi of her changing from majority to minority leader of the House of Reps. Gayle brings up that she hasn’t been on the cover of Time magazine. I agree…what’s up with that? It’s an oversight for sure. Anyway, we get Nancy’s take on Egypt…to let the people demonstrate peacefully…and she made a great point. If Mubarak is worried about stability…and it falling apart if one person leaves…then it’s not really that stable to begin with. Good point, Ms. Speaker Minority. Yes, young (and older people too) just want a better world…a better government…a better life. I’m so proud of them… Nancy’s take on the word “hate” that was used in O’Reillly’s interview on FOX of the President. “When growing up, we were not allowed to use the word “hate” or “shut-up.” THAT would be good for many households…I think I’m going to try to get a peaceful movement going at my house on that point. I started a “shut-up” penalty jar…but it never really came to be. It would have about $2.50 in it….so the “threat” did have some impact. The word is almost never said anymore.
- About One Night Stands – C’mon Match.com – really? A one night stand turning into something more meaningful and long term. Really? I’m thinking your stats are WAY off. I think that people meet online…and I know people who have met and married through an online forum….but seriously?
- About Jeff Pearlman from SportsIllustrated.com – tracked down a mean spirited Tweeter person and went undercover to find out info about him….and wrote him saying, “I am going to write a column for CNN about the lack of civility on the internet story….and I’m going to focus on you.” I think that’s awesome. No stamp. No envelope. No accountability. I wonder if Jeff ever did write that story…
- About the Superbowl Commercials – 30 seconds cost $3 million dollars. SAY WHAT? OMG, that’s crazy. Especially since they really were kind of weak this year…and a little “car heavy.” The StarWars kid for VW….that was very original and fun. Otherwise….I don’t really remember them…and was a little let down to tell you the truth. Thank goodness for the awesome half-time show….and the fact that I have a year to forget the unforgettable commercials.
