OWN has announced two more documentary specials to their lineup for this November. I am continually impressed by Oprah Winfrey Network’s choices for their docu-series and Doc Club. I am certain that the two new entries will have no problem meeting the high bar OWN has set for itself.
“Being Chaz” will pick up where many of us left off. The documentary will chronicle Chaz Bono and his fiancé Jennifer Elia as they deal with life post Chaz’s gender transformation surgery. As they try to find their new footing, we will get a real glimpse at how couples cope with the changes in their relationship. On top of that, we will observe Chaz as he prepares for “Dancing with the Stars” and learn of the controversy it created…in addition to the death threats he received. Just crazy! In order for viewers to catch up on Chaz, OWN will be airing the Emmy nominated “Becoming Chaz” immediately before “Being Chaz” premieres.
“I Am Jazz: A Family in Transition” offers totally new characters to the OWN family. The documentary will shadow the life of an extraordinary family and their 11-year old transgendered daughter. With extensive family footage and interviews, Jazz and her family share their incredibly personal story as they “grapple with the possibility of hormone blocking therapy and issues related to fertility, discrimination and identity.”
Both documentaries will air the same night back to back and shouldn’t be missed! So set your TiVos for November 27th for “Being Chaz” at 8PM followed by “I Am Jazz: A Family in Transition” starting at 9PM EST.
