Rosie couldn’t hold back after Jerry Sandusky’s interview with Bob Costas on Rock Center. Unless you have been under a rock, you already know about the Penn State assistant coach who has been accused of sexually abusing 8 boys of 15 years. There have been witnesses and a prior documented trail of concern. Yet, Jerry claims to be innocent. Every person is entitled to their day in court…but with that said, my gut tells me that this guy did it. I am sickened to the core. My only hope is that this will bring the international spotlight to pedophiles and our responsibility to protect and be aware. Rosie pointed out that when Jerry was asked if he was attracted to boys, it took him 16 seconds to get to a simple NO. We are talking way more time than it takes to sing the “Happy Birthday” song. If someone asked me if I were sexually attracted to small children, they wouldn’t even be able to finish the question before I leaped to a disgusted “NO”. Instead he spoke of how he enjoyed kids. So wrong on every level. The most disturbing piece that Rosie reminded us of was when the witnesses actually walked in and saw a young boy being raped by Sandusky and did nothing. This child who thought finally someone knew and would help him. NOTHING. Now…he is out on bail living next to an elementary school. We have to teach our kids to speak out….and the adults to stand up. It is the right thing to do!
On a lighter note, the incredible Holland Taylor of “Two and Half Men” was out promoting her new show, which happened to be Rosie’s first show in Chicago. The show was a tribute to the legacy of the former Texas Governor, Ann Richards. After insightful conversations about “Two and Half Men”, the theater and Ann Richards, Holland shared her thoughts on Charlie. Despite his demons, he is talented and is certain to bounce back in a positive way…at least we hope. Listen to her comment on the whole situation.
She then went on to talk about her inspiration for the production of “Ann”. I only wish I could see it. Luckily each audience got a pair of tickets. So cool! She literally pulled her car over as the play came to her. She and Rosie also joked around about Ann being on twitter…oh, how I wish that could have been. They even shared a few jokes she had about George Bush.
The ultimate girl power singer took to the RO stage. Growing up I loved her spunk and individuality. It was great hearing about her Italian family and how close they are. The closest I have heard of in music. Interesting news….Cyndi is going to be on a reality show. I adore listening to her talk…I am certain it will be so much fun! Here they are talking about it and Cyndi’s son.
The game began a little early tonight. A new game…“The Cyndi or Fudd Game”. Cyndi and an audience member competed to see if the sound bite was Cyndi or Elmer Fudd…TOO FUNNY. Enjoy the clip!
To close the show, Cyndi went on to wow the crowd with her latest hit, “Shattered Dreams”. It was very bluesy and pretty awesome. I’m thinking I need to download her CD – To Memphis, with Love. Check out the performance at Rosie.com.
