Fridays are always great on “The Rosie Show”. Maybe it is my own excitement about the weekend coming. Transitioning as her stylist continues to find her uniform, Rosie joked around about not being sure she is even gay anymore. I couldn’t help but laugh. If it was up to her…I’m thinking she’d be standing there in crocs and a target T-shirt. I’d love her just as much. The best part was when a woman in the audience asked about how she got the nerve to wear the black outfit in “Exit to Eden”. It is crazy how self-conscious women are about our bodies. Even when we look great, we find something to beat ourselves up about. I hate that we do that to ourselves and each other. I say…throw away the mirrors and just love life in the skin we have! Wouldn’t that be an interesting experiment? A whole community of children growing up without mirrors. I know…how would they tweeze? Oh well….back to the show.
The hilarious Molly Shannon joined Rosie tonight. I just adore her. Her Saturday Night Live characters were insanely funny. I pray I never forget the Terri skit with Alec Baldwin -Schwetty Balls, all of her impressions and the antics of Catholic school girl Mary Katherine Gallagher of course!
At peace as a mom, she shared how she lost her mom just before she turned 5. They all were in a horrible car accident killing her mother, her little sister and cousin. Molly, her father and sister Mary survived. I can imagine that being a mom now would make her feel closer to the memory of her own mom. As you watch your children grow, you are able to almost fill her shoes in a way. I’m not sure that makes sense. What I mean is by being a mom, I wonder if it makes her feel closer to understanding what her mom must have felt…ultimately brining her closer. It was great hearing them talk about their moms. She then shared a children’s book that she wrote, “Tilly the Trickster” which sounds amazing. Great book for the holiday parents!
Rosie and Molly then sang a tribute to showbiz’s funny ladies. As they sang all I could think about is how fun it would be to hang out with them at home….even doing a little SingStar! Then we all got a treat. Rosie shared a clip from “The Devotion Project”, a documentary about love that has spanned seven decades. See the clip here!
The show ended with “The Ro Game” where the answers to the questions all contain the word RO in it. It was so funny! One contestant couldn’t control her potty mouth. You have to watch this.
