My Life is a Joke brings a little heart and soul along with laughter to OWN.  Following five comedians from Chicago, this eclectic group of women dips beyond the surface of standup to offer a deeper dive into the world of comedy.

As the cameras roll, they take us out of the dark comedy club audience and turn up the lights to give us a look at what it’s like to follow your dream in the world of laughter.  From the serious side of living your dream to digging deep for that new joke that will work on stage, in the hour you will find yourself settling in and really liking these women who are highlighted.  Sharing personal stories of the loss of a child…looking for acceptance from parents who may not be able to see beyond the lifestyle stereotype…getting the call from SNL for a 4 minute audition…getting the nod for your first paying performance…  All these women live to make others laugh…that is what they want to do in life.  This is their passion.

And while the hour goes by too fast and shows us a peek into the hearts and lives of these women, you will be reminded that we all are in search of our own thing that makes us feel successful and worthy of standing on our own stage in the middle of life.  We are all looking for the courage to live up to our fullest potential and we all want the laughter and smiles that come from knowing that we have made it…and that we are right where we are supposed to be. Bravo to OWN for reminding us that living our dreams goes beyond the surface and that there are those who are out there standing on their stage and going for it…because you only live once!
