On the heels of the great news about “Becoming Chaz” receiving three Emmy nominations, the Oprah Winfrey Network has announced that OWN viewers will get to see a lot more of Chaz Bono and his girlfriend, Jennifer Elia. 

The documentary special, “Chaz & Jen”, will continue to highlight Chaz and Jen’s incredible journey as they explore life after Chaz’s gender transformation surgery, which was the topic of the documentary “Becoming Chaz” earlier this year on OWN .  With the documentary doing so well, it was a great move on OWN’s part to pick up and continue the story.

As for the Emmy Award nominations…the documentary “Becoming Chaz” was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Nonfiction Special, Outstanding Directing for Nonfiction Programming and for Outstanding Picture Editing for Nonfiction Programming.

“We’re so proud to be a part of Chaz’s remarkable journey and we are thrilled for Randy, Fenton and Chaz.  This is a great beginning for the OWN Documentary Club,” said Lisa Erspamer, executive vice president, production and development, OWN.  “We can’t wait to bring the next chapter of Chaz’s story to viewers in this new special.”

As for Chaz, he simply stated, “We set out to share my story honestly, hoping to help others.  The staggering response we’ve received culminating in this huge honor of being nominated for an Emmy is simply amazing.” 

OWN viewers are happy to hear that we will be able to share, learn and grow as we watch “Chaz & Jen” this fall.  We’ll keep you posted on the date.
