My afternoon was hijacked by OWN!   When The Color Purple is on, how can I not watch?  It started with just having it on it background while I still remained productive.  The next thing I know is I am standing still watching from across the house…on multiple occasions.  I finally caved.  I grabbed a fresh ice tea and some stale popcorn from the night before and planted myself on the sofa.  OWN won.  They had me.  I just love that movie.

Now clearly I was having focus issues.  As I watched the movie, I kept flashing back to the opening night of The Color Purple on Broadway.  My mother, sister and I were among the fortunate people to have tickets.  We stood in line as we watched Oprah being escorted by David Letterman.  She walked with such respect and pride.  She looked ABSOLUTELY beautiful…she was glowing.  I stood smiling in my OWN “O moment” within arms length of  Oprah.  I wanted to thank her for all that she does for people…as the list is endless.  I wanted to let her know that she helps me to be a better me.  But instead I just stood there with a quiet peace about myself knowing that I shared this moment….with her. 

Once inside the theater, my family and I primped in the bathroom and sipped drinks next to some of the biggest stars.   We were all there for the same reason….to see The Color Purple with Oprah; something she had dreamed of  for years.   AND we all were fortunate enough to be able to share that O moment with her.
