NEW SHOW coming to OWN….the only question is will is just be OWN Canada?
The Million Dollar Neighbourhood is not your average reality show! Now….back in April I mentioned OWN would be filming in Aldergrove, but at that time I suspected it was about a town all going on a diet. Instead, the Oprah Winfrey Network is bringing us something totally new!
In this show, The Million Dollar Neighbourhood, participants all take part in a social economic experiment…I know, I mentioned the cold word of economics, don’t lose me. The show will challenge families living in this small town of Aldergrove, Canada, to increase their collective net worth by $1 million in just 10 weeks. However, they won’t be doing it alone.
A financial team will give families a challenge each week to help them increase their income, reduce their debts and overall improve their financial standing. Not only will they receive the tips they need to be successful, they will also have opportunities to win money. OWN viewers will be able to watch and learn along with them…possibly changing our own lives. The production company, Force Four Entertainment, will begin filming in August and should run through the end of October. They are currently looking for Aldergrove families to feature.
This concept is unique and if done right, it could educate us all on small and big changes we can make to create a stronger financial foundation for our own families. I only hope that it translates to big ratings for OWN Canada and that just maybe….Oprah will being it to my town!

I am in Aldergove, i just had my first experience with the tv crew being broadcast from Aldergrove, British Columbia Canada !!!! It was GRRRREAT !!!!!…i’m so excited i’m bursting at the seams … me & my family of 3 children are really looking forward to making the most of such an incredible opportunity. I can hardly believe it, and am so grateful that Oprah chose Aldergrove !!!! A HUGE thanks from me to all the people from Aldergrove who helped bring Oprah’s company here to us, and a massive huge thanks to Oprah Winfrey and all her staff involved in creating this series. What an incredible idea in a world of recession for us all.

MY DREAM!!!… I am a Reiki master and long to teach it to others wanting to learn. I became a Reiki master a couple years ago… i took levels 1, 2 & 3 over a period of a year and a half (between 2007 & 2009). I have a strong deep passion for energy healing & meditation and Reiki saved my own life 3 years ago when i became VERY sick as a diabetic having strokes. My doctor could NOT diagnose what was happening to me. It took 2 years before i myself finally figured out what had been happening to me – repeated regular brain strokes – left hemisphere. I lost the ability to calculate basic math. I had to relearn grade 6 level math skills. It was very scary. I was having daily migraine like headaches, laying in bed for hours and vomiting. Reiki stopped all the pain and has helped to rediscover life itself for the better. I ALSO am a singer/songwriter and long to perform…i NEED A BAND.

More about my Reiki dream: Eventually, when the time is right, i want to be running my own home based business teaching Reiki. Right now, i really am looking forward to meeting others who can employ me as a Reiki master and bring me into teaching it to others. I currently live in a strata complex that does NOT allow me to run a home based business.
About my music / singing / performing… I am into Adele right now. My past years influences are very 80’s … i write my own original music and have one CD and would like to record more and perform live. I NEED A BAND tho… i play guitar but prefer a band.
My singing voice sounds like a cross between Alanis Morrisette & Shakira… i’m into top 40 pop/rock, i love blues & hip hop as well… i can sing almost anything…i have classical training as well but prefer pop/rock overall

Hi to everyone in the Million Dollar Neighbourhood.
I immediately bought the OWN channel when it came on air but was disappointed in it, and haven’t
been watching it very much. This morning I came across the Million Dollar Neighbourhood show.
This show is wonderful and the kind of show I expected from Oprah. I do not watch these other real-life shows. Most of them are degrading. This show should be very helpful to a lot of people who have trouble living within their budgets. I am a senior now,and live on my OAS etc, and a small pension
from my previous place of employment. When my son was growing up it was absolutely necessary to
stay on budget or drown in debt. Now that I am on my own I still stay within my budget and can save enough to go on an occasional trip etc. the point is, we do not have to buy everything we see and we can live on much less than we think. I shall keep watching the show.

Tonite I was flipping through the channels and i rarely watch TV came across the OWN and million dollar neighbourhood. What an awesome show! i felt inspired and thought of how this could help our community as we have many people who could use support, encouragement and life skills. Made me think of ways I can help in our community along the same lines as the show. Looking forward to watching the rest of the shows! Thanks Oprah 🙂
This is what I expect from Oprah. Hopefully one day I and my sons are given the opportunity participate in this challenge. Because of me we have to face any challenge to an objective to improve life. And that is part of the struggle for life improvement. Hopefully Oprah can invite us both from Indonesia.
I dvr’d this show and loved it! But it only caught 6 episodes, and I thought there were supposed to be 10? Can anyone tell me if it was cancelled of if I just missed the rest somehow? If so, can they be found online? Thx!
