It’s Day 3 and I’m feeling a little more “House Aware.” As I walk through my home, I really am getting the hang of editing out things that just don’t need to be there…including half of the contents of an overflowing wooden wine crate that is used for dog toys. The pups were overwhelmed and the toys, underplayed with.
So, here are the mental steps that I am going through. As I walk into the room, I stop. Look around the room and ask myself these questions…
- Where are the things that I love?
- Is there anything here that gives off a “bad vibe?”
- What about all the rest of this? Do they serve a purpose? Would I really care if they were gone?
Now, I have to tell you, the stack of already read Oprah magazines and partially read Writer’s magazines are still holding firm. Along with the books that walk into the rooms all over my house and rest so sweetly on the table just wishing to be noticed, picked up and read. I’m not sure yet what to do about all of that. I think I’m going to have to add another question to my new-found editing process – Do I love it or do I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it!!!! The extra “O”s and exclamation points will obviously take a priority ranking.
As much as my little sister praises my ability to “sew in a straight line,” our simple project of Nate’s napkin pillows are not quite done. I haven’t figured out how to close them other than by sewing them up…or getting out a hot glue gun…and THAT is not what I want. So we may go fancy with adding buttons to them. Or simple by adding iron on Velcro. Right now, they are placed nicely on each sofa…showing me the potential of a little bit of work. I’ll let you know when they are done..”.it’s a journey, not a sprint” I have to keep reminding myself.
So, here’s what’s on the schedule for Day 3 of the Boot Camp challenge – Searching for some inspiration. Somewhere in the day I am hoping to carve out the time to get to the book store and pick up some Home and Decorating books and magazines…and then, sit for awhile, enjoy some nice summer iced tea and dive right in. Wish me luck. And inspiration.
