Through integrated marketing efforts, Oprah has tapped in on being live and present each Sunday night to connect with her Behind the Scenes viewers. Using Twitterspace as the meeting place, O and her team tweet to each other as they watch themselves on OWN. “O, they are loving your hair,” “happy mother’s day to you too! see you tomorrow big week ahead!” and “LOVE LOVE LOVE this special edition! Bravo to you -and YAY Team HARPO!! #oprahlivetweet. Brilliant!”
In a land of multi-tasking, viewers watch, tweet, and read for one hour each Sunday night…hoping to connect and to get a question answered here or there….or a retweet or a shout-out. Why is it important? Silly really…right? Validation? Seriously? Maybe…but of what? That we are out here? That we support OWN? That we are steadfast and loyal viewers? Maybe all of that…but maybe something more. More than a Sunday indulgence…the chance to be noticed…and realize, you are not alone.
So, to answer our own question…To OprahLiveTweet or Not to OprahLiveTweet? Yes, we will be there each and every Sunday that Oprah and her team are there. But not for Oprah to notice…or for Sheri Salata to follow us…or for Erik Logan to re-tweet one of our many clever tweets…that would be great…but the real motivation is to be with those just like us…Oprah fans and OWN fans…to catch a tweet every now and then and to let them know…you are not alone. So follow us on Twitter…so we can see you and tweet with you. See you next Sunday!
