Gayle’s fired up and ready to go…so let’s get started. There’s lots to talk about this Thursday morning!
•About the News – Too many crazy things are going on in the news. Sad stories. Things just seem to be out of sorts…what is going on in the world?
•About the World Today with Rev. Al Sharpton – Looking for disasters is a little what is happening to the world. Instead of appreciating the calm, we are reacting to the craziness. From the news this morning that Ghadafi has been captured and killed to all the politics that are going on. What’s the good Reverand’s take? Gayle and Rev. Sharpton have a great talk about the world and the challenges of today and spend a nice amount of time getting to the topics of the day…and having a REAL conversation. “You can’t be afraid to grow,” he tells us about getting out of the track suits and into his grown-up self. “Be courageous enough to take the next step in your life…” “You will be good at what you have a passion for in life,” he tells us. So true. And his meeting with Lindsay Lohan…”You do not want to be a celebrity of self-destruction.” Wow, I hope she listens to this. On MSNBC, Rev. Al Sharpton as found a new home with “Politics Nation.” I think after this interview and with all of the political noise in the world, it’s worth taking a look at his show. Here are some of his shared thoughts from OWN…
•About A Better Burger – The Travel Channel’s Greorge Motz knows a good burger. Making our mouth water and us already planning what we are having for lunch, he’s telling us what it takes to make a burger that you just won’t forget. He has a new GPS AP that will help you find a good burger almost anywhere in the country. WOW…creative. My favorites – In-N-Out and Whataburger…and I don’t even eat hamburgers! but now…I might have to try Shake Shack. When’s lunch?

•About Farnoosh Torabi and Money – So, Farnoosh Torabi, Author of “Psych Yourself Rich” is giving us some real numbers. Women earn less than men – about 70 cents for every $1 – and that’s a BIG problem still in this country. At some point, 98% of women will be financially independent…so, it’s time to pay attention. In your 20’s, address your student loans and get secure health insurance and think about adding in an extra source of income by “turning your passion into a paycheck.” In your 30’s, have a five-year plan. All goals have price tags. Get rid of debt and start saving for retirement. In your 40’s, have a talk with your parents on their own plans, shop for life insurance and draft a will. In your 50’s, maximize your retirement contributions, accelerate your mortgage payoff, and look into long-term ” health care insurance. What about saving in this economy? Start somewhere…so that the behavior becomes natural.
Finally, Three Things to KNOW comes from Trish McEvoy: 3 Ways to Get the Right Stuff at the Makeup Counter. Thanks Gayle!
