Growing up, my mother spent every one of my birthdays telling the story of my birth.   Once she got to my arrival, the same words were always used to describe me “my little black-haired papoose”.  My Native American roots came from both my mother and father’s side of the family.  So when Lisa Ling announced she was doing a show on the problems that plague Native Americans, I was so excited.  The richest of our heritage has been trapped by stereotypes, poverty, addiction and teen suicide.  Join OWN in uncovering the culture and meeting those who are looking to create a better life for future generations.  Life on the Rez airs tonight, July 10th at 10/9C…only on OWN!
