Something tells me Rosie is going to LOVE this one! One of my newest finds has been OWN’s documentary club feature “Most Valuable Player” which compares the teamwork, confidence-building and camaraderie of people in the arts to those of sports. This film documents the path of 3 theater groups as they make their way to the “Superbowl” of high school performing arts, the “Freddy Awards” (which is like the Tony Awards but for high school). Ohhhh…if only this was a docu-series, then all would be right with the world…well, at least for a moment. Truly can’t wait! Take a peek and let me know what you think.
UPDATE: Premiers September 8th!
I love this movie. It’s so much fun!!! Docs that tell us what’s wrong with the world are a necessity but so are docs that remind us what’s right!!! This film trumpets the importance of arts education and does it in an infectuous, energetic, heartwarming and nostaltic way. It’s not just a film for Glee lovers. I think anyone who’s in high shcool, going to high school or went to high school will relate!!! The doc has a facebook page:
