Before we begin, I’m not a big fan of the new entrance. It just isn’t as fluid. But in reality, no one is going to stop watching because of it so no biggie. The show opened with Hollee still in her throne…she decided to keep it from the Halloween special. I think it is perfect. After introducing her son, Blake and his friend, she shared photos of the kids in costume. Every year my family dresses up and this year we went as a group of vampires. Vivi totally could have hung with us. RO then talked about the misery of left over Halloween candy in the house and the temptations…especially on snow days. I have a solution for her. I buy the good stuff, but I open one small bag at a time. Then the next day I return whatever I didn’t use to the store. Money back and temptation gone! If you hate returning them, take them to the nearest school – they can always use it. It totally works.
As Hollee and Rosie broke the news that Kim Kardashian’s divorce, she couldn’t help but notice that Leanne, the bumping and grinding mom was back. Way better, Chef Art Smith is in the audience….LOVE him! After a few hellos, she threw to the audience for some questions. When asked how she handles challenges in her own life, she commented that she believes you only get what you can handle. Taking a moment to talk about donors (wasn’t random, it went with the conversation), Rosie shared that a young 16 year-old friend of the family had recently died and over 90 people benefited from her donations. That is amazing. Truly everyone should be a donor!
After the break, Rosie welcomed to the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson to the stage. If you didn’t get a chance to see her journey on OWN, it was amazing. You can read all about it here. The two close friends sat back and talked about royal hats, Sarah’s connection with her girls, the tabloids, the loss of loved one, the royal wedding and the possibility of moving to America.
Wait, she just pitched a road trip with Rosie. The new Oprah and Gayle – too funny. I love it! OWN, she is looking for a job! How about a travel show where Sarah takes us around the world on a spiritual journey…like an “Eat, Pray and Love” thing? What a dream show! Can I go?
Then the topic turned serious. Sarah mentioned she had just learned that some cities it is easier to order a 12 year old for sex than it is to order a pizza. Now…I just finished an intense piece on the Our America with Lisa Ling “3AM Girls” special that aired last Sunday. Check the article out here. The situation is horrific and each and every one of us should be appalled and moved to act. It is great to see that Sarah is getting involved in the issue and bringing even more attention to it.
Before Sarah could go, Rosie unveiled a good ole’ Chicago hotdog for America’s Dog…the Rosie Dog smothered in goodness. There were dogs for everyone! Check out the video to find out the key ingredients.
Once everyone had a snack, comedian Wendy Liebman took the stage and had everyone rolling in their seats. Jokes about sassy teens, eating healthy, stopping smoking and of course who can resist an Alaska joke. You can see her whole routine here. Enjoy!
The show ended with a quick game of “What’s on Your Mind” and of course…confetti!
