Each Friday, we are taking a look back over the week and bringing you our “Top 5 Moments” of OWN programming. This week, our list came quickly. There were amazing moments and we couldn’t wait to share them! Here they are…
- Oprah on Jimmy Kimmel – A Jimmy Kimmel Live Primetime Oscar Special – This wasn’t actually an “on OWN” moment, but it was all about OWN and Oprah and it tops our list this week and it’s well deserved. Oprah showed up for everyone in her interview with Jimmy Kimmel for the Jimmy Kimmel Live Oscar Primetime Special. She made us laugh and appreciate her even more…and even when we didn’t think we could! Our Oprah LOVE just soared in this interview which even included an “aha” moment for us at The Daily OWN. Everybody has ideas for Oprah’s new network. Truth is, she’s got this. Even without Kimmel’s ideas “Oprah Repos Her Favorite things” and “Book Club Fight Club.” If you missed any of it, here is a clip. Take a look and get ready to LAUGH!
- Super Soul Sunday’s Lost in Woonsocket – This Sunday, we were reminded that by changing a life, we actually change our own life. In this very special film, Lost in Woonsocket, the filmmaker John Chester takes us on a journey to help two homeless men deal with addiction and rebuild their lives. Taken in the process of filming a documentary TV series, John finds much more than just footage and a story. He finds a secret to moving positive energy through the world and what it really means to the giver. While the story appears to be about overcoming addiction and making a difference in someone’s life, it’s quietly and quickly clear that those changed by the journey are not just the men in the film…or the filmmakers…but those changed are every single person who sees the film. The energy is clear. Bravo Super Soul Sunday!
- Super Soul Sunday with Daniel Pink and Right-Brained Thinking – Super Soul Sunday started out this week with Oprah talking to Daniel Pink, author of A Whole New Mind, and started us thinking about our right-brain. Daniel shares that it’s in the left side of the brain where we deal with the past and the future, but it’s in the right-brain where we are operating in the present. “Right-brain thinkers are starting the conversations,” he tells us, “and those are the people who are changing the world.” He notes six senses, which are all right-brain functions, that guide our lives and in turn, shape the world. For a little of the conversation and to start engaging the ever important right-brain of yours, take a look at Oprah.com’s clip of the interview.
- Thursday Doc Night with Family Affair – Family Affair touched topics and stories that opened up discussions and the shame often around sexual abuse in families. Shining a light on to something that is often kept in the dark, the film brings to the world a new topic of discussion. Awareness is life changing. Giving it a voice gives the power back to the victims. If you missed it, go now and set your DVR. OWN is showing it again on Saturday morning at 10am. Change your life…watch this film.
- Rosie’s back! – After a little bit of a break, Rosie’s back with brand new shows. Taking on some contriversal guests and topics – like Dance Mom’s, Teen Mom’s and Patti Blagojevich, Rosie is pulling up her chair to share some of these conversations. It’s nice to see her back! Here’s a woman that we’ve loved for years…finding her own way into this part of her life. Welcome back Rosie.
