Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s began with big decisions to be made. With The Upper Crust coming to life, Robbie knew she had to have the perfect menu items to debut her newest restaurant. Although she believed that there was no need to fix what wasn’t broken, Tim was pressuring her to bring a little change. Yet Miss Robbie was quick to point out that she started the restaurants with her mother’s recipes and more importantly “that’s Miss Robbie’s cooking that’s got everybody lined up around the block.” After bickering a little bit, they decided to hold a family cook-off. As Tim worked the room and starting getting creative, he claimed his intention was all about getting the best food for the new restaurant. I suppose it wasn’t a bad idea since they were looking to incorporate a culinary school inside the new restaurant.
However The Upper Crust was on everyone’s mind, including Charles. Looking for the easiest path to money, he decided it was time to get some schooling…to become a bartender. Unfortunately he has competition as other employees were hoping for the same thing. When Robbie was sick, she found Charles by her side at home. What did she think about the idea? “Charles is a trainwreck. He is a disaster” as a bartender. So in order to get moving on his newest career, Charles headed to a bar and asked for a little demonstration. By the end, he was stumbling out the door yelling “I am a bartender” while he swayed and waited for a cab. I think Miss Robbie may be right!
In the meantime, Jenae insisted it was time for Tim to get involved in the wedding plans. It was clear that tension was building between them. Feeling overwhelmed, Jenae hired wedding planners and by the time they were partly through the first meeting, the planners were already making notes to find a counselor to help Tim and Jenae survive the planning…especially after Jenae mentioned there would be around 400 people at the wedding. Counseling doesn’t sound like a bad idea at all. As they looked at venues, Tim couldn’t be more miserable. He really felt it was being rushed and just wasn’t excited. Something was clearly going on. Jenae was focused on trying to get all the tasks completed and Tim was barely able to hold a smile. Eventually he let Jenae in on the issue. He had a lot on his mind and with the new baby he wasn’t sure it was the right time. Understandably Jenae felt Tim wasn’t making them a priority. Everyone knows how the rest plays out. By the end of the episode, Tim decided Jenae was important enough to tell her that he would do his best to help out. It was a great start!
As the cook-off began, Miss Robbie was still not feeling well and was at home. With her cook filling in for her, she stuck with simple menu items. Tim felt this was him moment to shine. He was going up against the creator of “Sweetie Pie’s” and his own mama. To no one’s surprise, Tim fried almost everything! “Old school is about to get their ass kicked by new school,” he boasted.
The rules were simple. No one was supposed to know who cooked what, but Tim blew it. He made sure everyone knew. Family, friends and co-workers voted on the food. In the end Tim came out with more votes although Robbie was convinced that Tim cheated and I totally think she deserves a rematch!
Even crazier than all the cook-offs and wedding snappiness, it got super intense as the preview for next week aired and Tim actually hit Andre. As someone who is a strong advocate against domestic violence, I’m not sure how this will play out for me but I have grown to love this family. Tim…don’t screw this up for me!
